Hello and welcome back to our second issue of Dhagayso following   a successful launch back in November.  We received positive feedback from young people, parents and teachers alike, who all commented on what a wonderful magazine it is and how it’s been long awaited. Everyone was impressed by the dedication of the Dhagayso team and richness of the articles.

Following on from this we bring you our second issue titled: Values which explores the concept of values, Somali ones in particular, and how these shape our lives. We will be looking at how Somali values influence our outlook on tribes, marriage, sports and sex education to name a few.

Sagal will be interviewing the unstoppable K’naan, singer, poet and philosopher, finding out what drives him and the values he cherishes. Ubah tackles the issue of weight and what constitutes as beautiful. Ugbaad explores just how important one’s tribe is to modern day marriages. Elsewhere Amran looks at education values, Muna explores Somali values related to  women and sports and I ask if marriage is fashionable again?

Kedrh looks at the phenomenon that is Universal TV and how it unites Somalis around the world while reinforcing Somali values. We have a 60 second chat with Hussain Ibrahim about Somali values and we look at what we value the most.

Since the first issue the team has grown and I would like to welcome Kedrh Haibeh to the team. I would also like to thank all the people who contacted  us with their comments -  we are always happy to hear from you  so please complete the CONTACT form in the ‘Join Us’ section of the magazine.

Finally we would like to say a big  thank you to all our funders:Youth Opprtunities Fund (Sheffield City Council), Paul Hamlyn Foundation and BBC Children in Need - you have given us a great opportunity to learn new skills that would normally not be so readily available to us whist allowing our voices to be heard through our magazine.

We would also like to thank MAMA East African Womens Group, MASH Production, Development Education Centre (South Yorkshire), EMAS, Steve Dearden, Silverdale and Tapton schools and Sheffield Libraries for their continued support and invaluable advice and training.

We hope you all continue to enjoy and support our magazine and help it grow.

Peace to you all
